Overview of the Luxury Hotel Resort Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the Engineering Department and overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all resort systems and equipment. This role ensures the resort remains safe, efficient, and well-maintained for guests and team members, while supporting capital improvement plans and sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities Hotel Resort Chief Engineer

  • Lead the engineering team in addressing technical issues that impact daily operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and building regulations.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to support operational needs and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs – guest rooms, public areas, kitchen, restaurants, meeting space.
  • Monitor energy usage and implement efficiency strategies.
  • Maintain all required documentation and inspection records.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Lead the team and be of service to all hotel departments using good people skills.

Qualifications Hotel Resort Chief Engineer – Must be able to relocate to Savannah GA

  • Not required but preferred Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management.
  • 4-5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in a hotel, resort.
  • 2 years in a leadership role at at Hotel or Resort
  • Should have some basic certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems or other work order tracking system software.
  • Fun and Pleasant personality required to be a good leader.
